Я памятник себе воздвиг чудесный, вечный,

I built myself a monument to last forever.

Металлов тверже он и выше пирамид;

The hurricanes and raging storms will touch it never.

И времени полет его не сокрушит.

My rise from nothingness to fame they will recall.

That I first dared to sing in common Russian verses

О добродетелях Фелицы возгласить,

Felicia’s praise, her virtues sound, or lacking guile

В сердечной простоте беседовать о боге

Debated things of God, or careless of reverses

И истину царям с улыбкой говорить.

That I the truth to czars delivered with a smile.

О Муза! возгордись заслугой справедливой,

O muse! Take pride in your deserving acclamation,

И пре́зрит кто тебя, сама тех презирай;

Despise the man who undertakes to despise thee;

Непринужденною рукой, неторопливой,

And with relaxed, unhurried hand in coronation

Чело твое зарей бессмертия венчай.

Invest your brow with dawning immortality.
