It is truly meet
magnifying you the life-giver,
the one who spread his arms out upon the cross
and crushed the enemy’s power
It is truly meet
magnifying you the creator of everything;
through your afflictions, we became
unafflicted, freed from destruction.
The earth trembled,
and the sun, Saviour, got hidden,
by your unwaning light, Christ,
when you bodily subsided in a grave.
Neither the comeliness, Word, your prior one,
nor your form did you have in your suffering,
but when you’ve risen you overglowed,
beautifying mortals with divine effulgence
The sun as well as
the moon were darkened, Saviour,
portraying favoured servants,
who were dressed in black vestures.
It(the sun) trembled upon seeing
the invisible light, you my Christ,
hidden in a selpuchre and breathless,
the sun and darkened it’s light.
She bitterly wept
the all-pure mother of yours, Word,
upon seeing in the grave
you the ineffable and sempiternal* God
When your all-unspoiled Mother
beheld your death, Christ,
she spoke to you embittered:
“Do not linger, Life, among the dead.”
The direful Hades
got horrified, upon seeing You,
immortal sun of glory,
and hastily gave up it’s captives.
With hymns to you, Christ,
now both your crucifixion and your burial
we extol, all the faithfuls
delivered from death by your burial
And now Bearer of Life,
all-pure uncorrupted Virgin,
put an end to the congregation’s temptations
and bestow peacefulness, as it is benign
It is truly meet
