Qesîda Hesin Meman

English translation

The Qesîde of Hesim Meman

Ji te didem medehê,

I offer praise to you,

Welîyo xwedanê qubehê,

Oh holy man, lord of the spire,

Ji te kerema mehê.

The miraculous power of the moon comes from you.

Hesin Memanî melevanî

Hesen Meman is a swimmer,

Li behrêt giranî,

In great oceans,

Ligel mîr ra biranî.

He is the brother of the Prince,

Zêde kiribû zore,

He had increased his force,

Kire pîrê çil pîre,

He became the head of the Pir of the Forty Pirs,

Wê bang diden ji 'erşe.

They call him from the throne.

Bila bêt Hesin Meman,

If only Hesen Meman will come,

Dîtina wî qewî li me derman.

To see him will be a strong remedy for me.

Heya mîr we dibête,

Until the Prince commands,

Bila Hesin Meman bête,

Let Hesen Meman come,

Bila rûnêt û bistirête,

Let him sit down and take refuge,

Ka mîryatî bi kî dişête.

We shall see for whom the office of Prince is suitable.

Mîrê kibîre,

He is a great Prince,

Hesino peşayî kibîre,

Hesen is a great king,

Heçiyê Hesin pîre,

Anyone to whom Hesen acts as pir,

Ser naçit Nekir û Nekîre.

To him the angels of the grave will not come.

Mîrê mezine,

He is a great Prince,

Hesino pedşayê mezine,

Hesen is my King,

Heçiyê pîr Hesine,

Anyone whose pir is Hesen

Nekîr û Nekîn li ser naçine.

The angels of the grave will not come to him.

Tancê sê'detê,

He is the crown of happiness,

Hesino kulkê se'detê,

Hesen the skullcap of happiness,

Ji xezîna qudretê,

Is from the treasury of power,

Hesino ji bana bo te tê.

Hesen will come to you from above.

Tançe te bi zêre,

Your crown is of gold,

Hesino kulkê te bi zêre,

Oh Hesen, your skullcap is of gold,

Û li heft 'ezmana bigêre,

It circulates in the seven heavens,

Lew ser serê te wergêra.

Then it returns to your head.

Çil rabûne ser pêya,

The Forty stood up on their feet,

Xelatek wê têye,

A robe of honour comes,

Kesek nizanit bo kêye.

No one knows for whom it is intended.

Mehmedê Reşane

Mehmed Reshan,

Çakiya min dît bi çavane,

Has seen my goodness with his eyes,

Xelat, xelatê Hesin Memane.

The robe is a robe of honour for Hesen Memen.
