Ὁ Ἀπρίλης μὲ τὸν Ἔρωτα χορεύουν καὶ γελοῦνε,

April with Eros, they dance and laugh,

κι ὂσ’ ἄνθια βγαίνουν καὶ καρποὶ τόσ’ ἅρματα σὲ κλειοῦνε.

and as many blossoms come out and fruits, that many chariots surround you.

Λευκὸ βουνάκι πρόβατα κινούμενο βελάζει,

White small mountain of sheep, baas moving,

καὶ μὲς στὴ θάλασσα βαθιὰ ξαναπετιέται πάλι,

and deep in the sea, is thrown back again,

π’ ὁλονυχτὶς ἐσύσμιξε μὲ τ’ οὐρανοῦ τὰ κάλλη.

where all night long it united with the heaven's beauties.

Καὶ μὲς στῆς λίμνης τὰ νερά, ὂπ’ ἔφθασε μ’ ἀσπούδα,

And in the lake's waters, where she arrived with haste,

ἔπαιξε μὲ τὸν ἴσκιο τῆς γαλάζια πεταλούδα,

she played with her shadow, [an] azure butterfly,

ποῦ εὐωδίασε τὸν ὕπνο τῆς μέσα στὸν ἄγριο κρίνο·

that scented her sleep inside the wild lily·

τὸ σκουληκάκι βρίσκεται σ’ ὤρα γλυκειὰ κι ἐκεῖνο.

the little worm is, too, at a sweet hour.

Μάγεμα ἡ φύσις κι ὄνειρο στὴν ὀμορφιὰ καὶ χάρη·

[A] Spell [is] the nature and a dream, in beauty and in grace·

ἡ μαύρη πέτρα ὁλόχρυση καὶ τὸ ξερὸ χορτάρι.

the black rock all-golden, and the dry grass.

Μὲ χίλιες βρύσες χύνεται, μὲ χίλιες γλῶσσες κρένει:

With a thousand springs it pours, with a thousand tongues it speaks:

«Ὅποιος πεθάνει σήμερα χίλιες φορὲς πεθαίνει».

Whoever dies today, one thousand times he dies.
