إذا مَاضَاقَ صَدرُكَ مِنْ بِلادٍ

Should you grow tired of a country

تَرحَّل طَالِباً بلداً سِواها

Then travel seeking another land

عَجِبْتُ لِمَن يُقيمُ بِأَرضِ ذُلٍّ

I'm bewildered by those staying in a land of humiliation

وأرضُ اللهِ واسِعةٌ فَضَاها

when the land of God is wide open

فَذاكَ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ قَلِيلُ عقْلٍ

Such a person is feeble-minded

بَليدٌ ليسَ يَدْرِي ما طَحَاها

Foolish and unaware of how wide open the world is

فإِنَّكَ واجِدٌ أرضاً بأرضٍ

You're the same person in any land

ونَفْسُكَ لا تَجِدْ نَفْساً سِواها

and you can't replace your soul by another

ولا تَجْزَع لِحادِثَةِ اللَّيالي

Don't get alarmed by what happens at night

فَكُلُّ مُصِيبَةٍ يَأْتي انْتِهَاها

Every catastrophe shall have its end

إذا مَاضَاقَ صَدرُكَ

Should you grow tired

مَشيناهَا خُطَىً كُتِبَتْ عَلينا

We walked the steps that we were fated to walk

ومَنْ كُتِبَتْ عَليهِ خُطىً مَشاهَا

The one who's destined take steps will take them

ومَنْ كانَت مَنِيَّتُه بِأرْضٍ

If someone is meant to die in a land,

فَلَيسَ يَمُوتُ فِي أرْضٍ سواها

they will not die in any other
